Sancton Wood is an avid supporter of Readathon, an amazing charity that offers support and lots of bookish loveliness for poorly children in hospital.  Through sponsored reading in schools, they raise money to provide much needed story tellers and books to help make staying in hospital a bit more bearable.  As well as their hospital programme they also support children in hosptials via these three brilliant charities, The Roald Dahl Marvellous Children’s Charity, CLIC Sargent and Together for Short Lives.  If you would like to read more about the amazing work that Readathon does then click here.

We have just started  our 2017 Readathon and we kicked it all off with the arrival of 2 giant flying books!

The books are hopefully going to help inspire all the children to do lots and lots of reading during February so we can raise as much money as possible for Readathon. They took a very long time to make but it was worth it just to see the children’s excited faces on Wednesday.

Giant bookshelves also appeared all across the school.

The children will fill these with paper book spines every time they complete a book  during Readathon. We are looking forward to seeing these fill up throughout February.

To help with the decorations for Readathon, we asked all the children to design a giant book spine of their favourite books.  Check out some of the results:
